    Sa Mu is one of the most pristine mountain peaks in the Northwest region, located in Xim Vang commune, Bac Yen district, Son La province, located in the Ta Xua special-use forest - the intersection between Son La and Lao Cai.

    Mr. Dang Van Tuong (30 years old, Hanoi) had a memorable 2-day, 1-night trip to Sa Mu: "I know about Sa Mu and the Sa Mu trekking tour through a local in Xim Vang posted on social media. After learning more about other information, I decided to come here because the scenery is so beautiful.

    The route to conquer Sa Mu starts from the center of Xim Vang commune, about 30km from Bac Yen town. The trekking journey takes about 13km from the foot of the mountain to the top, suitable for people with average physical strength.

    "Along the way, you can see majestic primeval forests, rich vegetation including mangrove forests, maple trees, bean sprouts and countless ancient trees covered with moss. The air in the forest is cool, pure and quiet, bringing a feeling of returning to the purest nature, said Mr. Tuong.

    The male trekker said that the most difficult thing is having to walk a lot, requiring flexible and enduring physical strength. This is a big challenge for office workers like him. In addition, this area has steep terrain and is prone to slippery when it rains, requiring climbers to have basic survival skills in nature.
    “Khi trekking Sa Mu moi nguoi phai co quan ao giu am, giay trekking chong nuoc, den pin va do bao ho co ban. Do kho cua cung minh danh gia o muc 6/10, vua du de thu thach nhung khong qua khac nghiet”, anh Tuong chia se.
    When trekking Sa Mu, everyone must have warm clothes, waterproof trekking shoes, flashlights and basic protective gear. The difficulty of the route I assess as 6/10, just enough to challenge but not too harsh," Mr. Tuong shared.
    Ngoai ra, anh Tuong cung xem truoc ve dia chi, cung duong di, thong tin ve porter de tranh nhung truong hop xau nhat nhu lac duong, bi lua mat coc… Tong chi phi cho chuyen di la 1,5 trieu dong.
    In addition, visitors need to check in advance about the address, route, and information about port to avoid the worst cases such as getting lost, being scammed online, etc. The total cost of Mr. Truong's trip was 1.5 million VND.

    Sa Mu trekking tours are currently mainly organized by local people in Xim Vang, including port, food, shelters in the forest and homestays in the village. Tourism services and infrastructure have not developed much, so preserving the forest environment and respecting the indigenous space is necessary to help the Sa Mu journey always preserve the original beauty of the Northwest mountains and forests, said the male trekker.
