The livestream program "Full Moon of the Old Quarter - Hanoi in Me" brings authentic experiences of the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival in the space of the old quarter.
Hoan Kiem Ward People's Committee, Domestic Market Management and Development Department, Vietnam Cultural Heritage Conservation Support Fund and TikTok Vietnam jointly organized the livestream program "Full Moon of the Old Quarter - Hanoi in Me". The event was held on October 3, aiming to spread traditional cultural values, introduce the beauty of Hanoi's ancient heritage to the community, especially young people; at the same time, welcome the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2025 and towards celebrating the 71st anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2025).Following TikToker Miss Street, visitors and audiences can fully experience a day of exploring culture and heritage in Hanoi's Old Quarter. The 22 Hang Buom Cultural and Arts Center - the address to preserve the quintessence of traditional handicrafts is the final stop on the journey. The experience opens with a walk through the mural space of Phung Hung Street, Hang Vy, Hang Ca in the autumn weather; enjoy "Hanoi breakfast" with Khoi Hoi beef pho, Nhi coffee - flavors associated with ancient urban life. The livestream session also brought viewers to Nam Huong Communal House, Bach Ma Communal House, Kim Ngan Communal House.The special highlight is the activity of making ancient lion heads with artisans and students on Hang Buom Street. Here, young artist Kevin Vuong had the opportunity to introduce to students, tourists and audiences the origin and journey to restore traditional Vietnamese lion heads. He said that he has spent more than 5 years (since 2019) researching and testing, producing many versions of the Northern lion head.
At the event, artisan Kevin Vuong also personally instructed students at Nguyen Du Primary School (Hoan Kiem, Hanoi) on how to paint and decorate paper lions. According to him, this is a meaningful activity, helping children and tourists better understand traditional culture, so that young people can access the heritage left by their ancestors in a more natural, closer and interesting way. Visitors can also explore the space of the 22 Hang Buom Cultural and Arts Center with a giant lion head, traditional toy display booths such as bamboo plantations, paper doctors, paper masks, star lanterns, key lanterns...The decorated space is both imbued with traditional cultural values and filled with the atmosphere of the approaching Mid-Autumn Festival.Talking with Lao Dong, Ms. Nguyen Hong Trang - Vice Chairman of Hoan Kiem Ward People's Committee assessed the event as an activity with great influence. According to her, to bring culture closer to the community, it does not stop at images, sound or emotions, but also practical experiences are needed. When directly participated, people will feel and love cultural values more.Ms. Trang said: "We believe that only when culture is deeply imbued with life, each person becomes an ambassador, an inspiration, can culture be promoted, lasting and become an endogenous force for development".
Recently, the People's Committee and Hoan Kiem Ward have coordinated with the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Conservation Fund and TikTok Vietnam to establish 3 separate TikTok channels. According to Mr. Nguyen Lam Thanh, General Director of TikTok Vietnam, the project to build channels and chains of activities on digital platforms with Hoan Kiem ward is part of the program to support localization digitalization. Accordingly, each locality will develop 3 channels including: Government channel, Cultural channel, E-commerce channel for its own purposes, promising to become an effective tool to contribute to local development in all aspects in the coming time.
