Besides Sinh village paintings and Tay Ho paintings, Chuon village paintings (An Truyen, Hue) were once one of the three famous folk painting genres of the Ancient Capital. The traditional woodblock printed folk painting genre of Hue is famous for parallel sentences and great characters (Phuc, Tho characters) on pink paper, often carrying the meaning of wishing good luck and prosperity.
After more than 10 years of being lost, this painting genre has been successfully restored by the "Phuong Bach Nghe" and "Ve Lang" project groups initiated by Mr. Ngo Quy Duc. He has devoted a lot of effort to learn about ancient techniques as well as connecting artisans to promote the project to operate.

Exquisite wood carving techniques from Thanh Lieu village (Hai Duong) and handcrafted color printing art from Dong Ho and Hang Trong painting villages have been utilized to bring back Chuon village lien paintings.
Continuing the resounding success in Hue Ancient Capital in early January 2026, the "Reviving the Craft of Lien Lang Chuon" project officially launched to the Capital's public at the event "Lien Lang Chuon - Xuan Xu Hue Colors in the Heart of Hanoi" at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi hotel.
The set of 5 panels (Ngu Su) - the most complete version of Chuon village panel - was displayed at the event. Unlike the set of 3 panels (Tam Son) launched earlier in Hue, this version is supplemented with two paintings "Hac Ngu, Lung Quy".

This image is selected by the group from the decorative heritage at Ha Trung ancient pagoda (Hue), showing the inheritance and adaptation thinking of the project: both respecting the ancient style and instilling creative soul to suit today's magnificent worship and display space.
Mr. Ngo Quy Duc shared: "Reviving Chuon village is just the beginning. We don't want the heritage to just be in museums or stories told with regret. The destination of the project is to bring Lien back to contemporary life, creating livelihoods for people.
Especially, after the Chuon village festival, we will start researching and restoring the Tay Ho Village Painting series, with the desire that one day in the not too distant future, Hue will again be brilliant with all three folk colors: Sinh - Chuon - Tay Ho”.

The project commits to accompanying artisans of Hang Trong, Dong Ho, Kim Hoang, Lang Sinh painting genres... to restore the faded printed boards that are in danger of completely disappearing.
From there, it sparked the prosperity of folk painting genres but in a new form, accepted by the public as a part of contemporary life, while still preserving the identity, the precious capital of the quintessence of handicrafts and the Vietnamese soul for generations.
