Sao Ha village belongs to Kho Cho village, located in Van Chai commune, about 20km from the center of Dong Van district (Ha Giang). After the village was used as the setting for the movie "Tet in Hell Village", it quickly became a destination attracting tourists.
Sao Ha in H'Mong language means "high valley", the village is located at an altitude of more than 1,500m above sea level, with only 22 households living. The small village is nestled peacefully in the middle of Van Chai primeval forest. Because it is surrounded by endless forests and mountains, this place still retains its wild beauty, with a hint of magic.
If starting from Ha Giang city center, tourists drive along Highway 4C to Tham Ma slope, then turn to Van Chai commune, go to Kho Cho, ask for directions to Sao Ha village.
The road leading to the village has been concreted but it is not easy to walk, cars cannot get all the way to the village. About the last 3km, the road becomes narrower, steeper, has many dangerous bends, one side is a cliff and the other is a deep abyss, and can only be moved by motorbike.
For convenience and not to get lost, visitors should hire a motorbike taxi from a local to take them to the village.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Manh, a Hanoi tourist, had the opportunity to visit Sao Ha village and said: "I came to the village one afternoon. The desolate scene at first glance made me feel a bit scary. Surrounding the village is a forest of ancient trees, the whole village wears a gloomy and quiet look. On the map there is no location of Sao Ha village, everyone should carefully ask for directions to get here.
The ideal time to go to the village is in the spring, visit from about 8 - 9 am in the morning. At that time, the whole village was covered in morning dew as if bursting with life thanks to the blooming peach blossoms, showing off their bright pink color.

In Sao Ha, there are more than 20 houses with mud walls and yin-yang tile roofs. The houses are located in clusters, scattered, surrounded by sturdy stone fences about 1.5m high, covered with moss.
People in the village mainly live and operate on a self-sufficient basis. They often grow corn, mustard greens and raise goats. In the village, many flax plants are grown, used to weave fabric.
Coming here, visitors will admire the beauty of the ancient primeval forest and explore the life of the H'Mong people. The village has not yet exploited tourism services, so visitors mainly come and return during the day. Be careful not to litter in the village and maintain general order so as not to affect people's lives.
"I have visited many mountain villages, but nowhere has it felt as cold as Sao Ha village. The village is small, there is no phone signal. In return, the people are very friendly and hospitable. Although However, due to the quiet, dark space and dangerous terrain, in my opinion, 'weak-minded' people should not come," Mr. Manh said.
