Located at an altitude of over 400m above sea level, Khe Sanh possesses a mild, cool temperature, completely different from the typical heat of the Central region.
The most ideal time to travel to Khe Sanh is in the dry season, from March to September. At this time, the weather is sunny and clear, convenient for moving and exploring activities. To get to Khe Sanh, tourists have many convenient routes. Starting from the center of Dong Hoi, you move along the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway, then turn into National Highway 9 towards Lao Bao to get to Khe Sanh. The entire journey is about 180km long with a total travel time of 3.5 - 4 hours.
Starting from Hue, you can take National Highway 1A connecting National Highway 9 through Dong Ha, about 150km. If you are a backpacker, you choose National Highway 49 through A Luoi, entering Ho Chi Minh Road, you will admire the beautiful mountain passes.

Young people often organize trekking, bathing in streams at Ta Puong waterfall, Chenh Venh waterfall, or camping by the clear Ta Du stream. To have million-like photos, visit Rao Quan Lake, Tuyet Tinh Coc Lake, Lonely Tree or hunt clouds at Cu Vo peak. Recently, Xa Huc grass hill and Huong Hoa maple forest have also become destinations hunted by young people.

From Khe Sanh, it only takes about 22km to reach Lao Bao International Border Gate. You will check-in at the Vietnam - Laos border marker. If you have prepared your passport, you can go in the morning to check in to Savannakhet or Salavan of Laos, experiencing an interesting cross-border tourism.
