Originally associated with heroic historical memories, Khe Sanh commune (Quang Tri province) is today rising to become a healing destination. This place contains beautiful natural landmarks, unique cultural experiences, becoming a newly emerging and attractive tourist destination.
Located at an altitude of over 400m above sea level, Khe Sanh possesses a mild, cool temperature, completely different from the typical heat of the Central region.
The most ideal time to travel to Khe Sanh is in the dry season, from March to September. At this time, the weather is sunny and clear, convenient for moving and exploring activities. In particular, due to the temperature difference, you should bring a thin jacket because the evening atmosphere will be chilly.

To get to Khe Sanh, tourists have many convenient routes. Starting from the center of Dong Hoi, you move along the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway, then turn into National Highway 9 towards Lao Bao to get to Khe Sanh. The entire journey is about 180km long with a total travel time of 3.5 - 4 hours.
Starting from Hue, you can take National Highway 1A connecting National Highway 9 through Dong Ha, about 150km. If you are a backpacker, you choose National Highway 49 through A Luoi, entering Ho Chi Minh Road, you will admire the beautiful mountain passes.
Ms. Hong Nhat, a tourist from Hanoi, excitedly shared: "Two years ago, I visited Khe Sanh to visit the Lonely Tree and Rao Quan Lake, but it was just one visit and then I left very quickly. This year, returning, I spent 2 whole days here just to chill, inhaling the cool air as if I were in Da Lat in the heart of Quang Tri".

If you love adventure and wilderness, you cannot miss the beautiful natural coordinates.
Young people often organize trekking, bathing in streams at Ta Puong waterfall, Chenh Venh waterfall, or camping by the clear Ta Du stream. To have million-like photos, visit Rao Quan Lake, Tuyet Tinh Coc Lake, Lonely Tree or hunt clouds at Cu Vo peak. Recently, Xa Huc grass hill and Huong Hoa maple forest have also become destinations hunted by young people.
Besides, Khe Sanh today also has a modern beauty with a new symbol being giant wind power fields. Amaccao, Lien Lap, Huong Tan wind power plants with wind turbines rotating evenly in the blue sky create a romantic scene like the European sky.

Not only nature, this land still retains its heroic historical values. Visitors can visit Ta Con airport - the site marking the historic 77-day and night campaign in 1968, Peak 689, Khe Sanh tower or the relic of Lao Bao Prison.
From Khe Sanh, it only takes about 22km to reach Lao Bao International Border Gate. You will check-in at the Vietnam - Laos border marker. If you have prepared your passport, you can go in the morning to check in to Savannakhet or Salavan of Laos, experiencing an interesting cross-border tourism.
After a long journey of exploration, Khe Sanh cuisine will surely retain diners. Due to its border location, you can enjoy local dishes prepared by local people, combined with specialties of Laos.
Coming to Khe Sanh, don't forget to try a fragrant cup of Khe Sanh coffee, sip buffalo meat or authentic Lao dishes. Those are the very unique flavors of this border region," Ms. Nhat suggested further.
To make the trip more complete, visitors can combine visiting Quang Tri ancient citadel, Truong Son cemetery, or stopping at the Hien Luong bridge - Ben Hai river relic complex before reaching Khe Sanh.
