The new building has an area of about 13,000m2, designed according to a model simulating the wild environment combined with modern technology solutions.
The project includes 4 indoor display areas, 5 cages and 5 outdoor exercise areas, creating conditions for pandas to move flexibly between spaces.
Representatives of the Beijing Zoo said that the farm recreates the undulating mountain terrain, artificial stream system and many characteristics of the natural environment to create living conditions close to the wild habits of pandas.
In addition to fixed resting platforms, the farming area is also equipped with many moving items such as tires, balls... to stimulate physical activity and natural behavior of the bears.
This is also the first panda farm in China to achieve the 3-star green building certification - the highest rating for green buildings. The building uses environmentally friendly materials, and is equipped with air conditioning, smart ventilation and automatic management.
The integrated management system allows monitoring of health, security monitoring and automatic adjustment of pandas' living environment conditions.
In addition, an hourly cooling misting system is also installed to help individuals better adapt to hot summer weather conditions.
The tourist area is designed according to a closed route, contributing to effective visitor diversion and enhancing the tourist experience.
Currently, the first 5 panda individuals including Manh Lan, Bai Tian, Ji Nian, Fu Jiang and Fu Xing have moved to the new house and are adapting well to their living environment.
Established in 1906, Beijing Zoo is the first public zoo in China. This place started raising giant pandas in 1955 and has built specialized breeding areas to serve the 1990 Asian Games and the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Currently, it is taking care of 10 giant pandas.
