According to Lao Dong at Phu Quy port, visitors getting off the speedboat often rent motorbikes from services on the island to travel to the hotel and around the island. The motorbike rental services all include helmets and remind visitors to wear helmets and obey traffic laws.
Traffic police and public order of Phu Quy district police often patrol and control, focusing on high-risk behaviors leading to traffic accidents such as alcohol concentration violations, carrying more people than prescribed; not wearing helmets when riding motorbikes, motorbikes, etc.
According to this unit, since the beginning of 2024, it has detected, recorded and administratively sanctioned 181 cases of tourists. The total fine is more than 270 million VND and the driving license of 30 cases has been revoked.
Alcohol concentration checks at night on Phu Quy Island are also carried out regularly, combined with propaganda for restaurants and eateries in the area to remind tourists to strictly comply with the regulation of not driving after drinking alcohol.
Many restaurants and eateries have arranged vehicles to take tourists who have consumed alcohol home when needed. Thanks to this, there have been no serious traffic accidents involving tourists on Phu Quy island district, contributing to creating a safe environment for tourists.
