In the official announcement, the Hanoi Museum said that it will temporarily stop receiving visitors to focus on the site for the thematic exhibition construction on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the People's Public Security (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2025) jointly organized by the Ministry of Public Security and the Hanoi People's Committee.

The museum will temporarily close to visitors from July 15, 2025, and is expected to reopen to visitors from August 6, 2025.
The Hanoi Museum has a total area of 53,963 m2, with a height of more than 30m, including four floors above ground and two basements. The 4th floor has the largest area, the lower floors are gradually getting smaller according to the reverse pyramid architecture.
The Hanoi Museum is currently home to more than 70,000 documents and artifacts of many different types and materials, including valuable cultural heritages, introducing the thousands of years of development history of Thang Long - Hanoi. Including many collections and rare artifacts such as the collection of bronze drums, ceramics, revolutionary resistance artifacts...
Previously, the Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter announced a temporary suspension of receiving visitors at some relic sites in the area, to serve the restoration, embellishment and prevention of construction deterioration, including:
- Quan De Temple - 28 Hang Buom: closed from May 20, 2025 (expected opening and receiving visitors on February 1, 2026). - Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center - 50 Dao Duy Tu: closed from July 1, 2025 (expected opening and receiving visitors on November 21, 2025). - Heritage house No. 87 Ma May: closed from July 1, 2025 (expected opening and receiving visitors on April 26, 2026).
The restoration and embellishment aims to ensure the safety of tourists as well as preserve and promote the cultural and historical values of important relics in Hanoi's Old Quarter.
