Officially opened in early November, the Vietnam History Museum has attracted attention when welcoming tens of thousands of people and tourists every day. In particular, last Sunday (November 17), the museum recorded 60,000 visitors - a record number of visitors in one day at museums in Vietnam.
Responding to Lao Dong, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tien Dung - Deputy Director of the Vietnam Military History Museum said that the target audience is very diverse. On weekdays, most visitors are students and young people. Visitors with families, veterans, people, and students of all levels often come on weekends. In addition, there are visitors from agencies and units inside and outside the Army, and international visitors.
Mr. Dung commented that the museum attracting a large number of visitors creates a “cultural phenomenon” in the context that museum institutions in general have not received public attention for a long time. This is the joy of the Vietnam Military History Museum in particular and of the Vietnam People's Army in general.
Accordingly, there are many reasons for the large number of public visits to the museum in recent times.
“Firstly, the Vietnam Military History Museum has a large scale, unique design, modern displays, and many new technologies applied in the displays, bringing interesting experiences to the public.
Second, the exhibition content of the Vietnam Military History Museum is very attractive, systematically reflecting the history of building and defending the country of our ancestors from the time of Hung Vuong - An Duong Vuong to the present day. In particular, the Museum displays many types of weapons and large equipment used by the Vietnamese army and people in the resistance war and the spoils of war captured from the enemy," said Mr. Dung.
Besides, our people, especially the young generation, always have a spirit of patriotism, love the history and traditions of the nation, and are proud of the tradition of fighting against foreign invaders. When the Vietnam Military History Museum was newly invested and opened, it met the needs of many classes of people. Everyone wants to visit the Museum to see with their own eyes the history of building and defending the country of our ancestors.
Finally, Mr. Dung said that the museum's free admission also contributes to attracting more visitors during this time.
According to the plan, the museum will be open free of charge until the end of December this year. After that, the Vietnam Military History Museum will sell entrance tickets like some other museums in Hanoi.
Details on admission prices will be announced in the near future. Previously, the Vietnam Military History Museum at its old location charged 10,000-20,000 VND/visit for Vietnamese citizens, and 40,000 VND/visit for foreign visitors.
Mr. Dung affirmed that in the coming time, the Vietnam Military History Museum will better operate the work of welcoming and serving visitors.
“We closely coordinate with the local authorities and police agencies; coordinate with the functional agencies of the General Department of Politics and the Ministry of National Defense to arrange and supplement forces to regulate traffic inside and outside the Museum, and strengthen solutions to ensure security and safety for visitors.
At the same time, coordinate with the Museum Construction Project Management Board to speed up the completion of the remaining tasks of the project to exploit the project's functions, supplement service activities, and improve the quality of welcoming and serving guests," said Mr. Dung.
For tourism companies and schools, the Vietnam Military History Museum has built a fairly close relationship in recent times. Every year, the museum organizes conferences to meet tourism companies, academies, schools inside and outside the military, and agencies and units to discuss solutions and policies to improve the quality of service for visitors.
“When the Museum operates at a new location, with a large campus and many exhibition spaces, it will open up many opportunities for cooperation with travel agencies and schools. We will have meetings, exchanges, and introductions of educational programs, organization, and coordination in serving visitors. This connection will benefit both sides in improving the quality of service for visitors,” said the Deputy Director of the Museum.
Regarding the application of technology and digital transformation at the museum, Mr. Dung informed: "Currently, the display system of the Vietnam Military History Museum has applied many technologies, such as Mapping, 3D movies, 2D movies, virtual reality technology, interactive experiences, multi-media, historical space reconstruction... which have created attraction for visitors, especially young people".
In the coming time, to meet the public's needs, the Museum will build virtual reality tours on the internet, build 3D tours for large artifacts and national treasures so that the public can have a better experience when visiting the Museum.
