The new Vietnam Military History Museum is located at Km6+500 Thang Long Avenue, Tay Mo Ward, Dai Mo, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi. The museum officially welcomed visitors from November 1. Previously, the museum, whose old address is 28A Dien Bien Phu Street, Ba Dinh District, announced that it would stop welcoming visitors from September 30.
The project was newly built by the Ministry of National Defense in 2019 on an area of nearly 386,600m2 with a modern, multi-functional design. This is not only a place to display war history but also a space for visitors to interact and experience the struggle for national independence.
Currently, the museum preserves more than 150,000 valuable artifacts. Among them are 4 national treasures: 2 MIG-21 aircraft with serial numbers 4324, 5121; T54B tank with serial number 843 and a map of determination to fight in the Ho Chi Minh Campaign.
The museum's outer area is a square of over 20,000 square meters. Here, visitors can see with their own eyes artifacts of airplanes, tanks, and large weapons associated with many important historical events.
The indoor space of the museum is a 35.8m high building with 4 floors above ground and 1 underground floor, with a construction area of 23,198m2. The interior exhibition space is divided into 6 themes according to historical milestones: The beginning of the country's founding and defense; Protecting independence from 939 to 1858; Fighting against French colonialism, gaining national independence from 1858 to 1945; Resistance against French colonialism, 1945 - 1954; Resistance against the US from 1954 to 1975; Building and defending the country from 1976 to the present day.
The Vietnam Military History Museum now has many new display methods, such as 3D mapping technology, search screens, many automatic explanatory visual documents, QR codes to look up information about artifacts, more than 60 videos introducing campaigns, battles, historical figures...
The Vietnam Military History Museum was put into operation from November 1. This is an event to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024), the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024) and the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024).
