According to Lao Dong in mid-November 2025, the Muong Thanh Market and Trade Service Project (Muong Thanh Tourist Market - in Dien Bien Phu Ward, Dien Bien Province) is rushing to complete the final items, ready to go into operation.
The project has a total investment of more than 193 billion VND, built on a scale of 1.8 hectares, and has taken on a new, spacious and modern look.
A representative of Quang Ninh National Park Trade and Construction Joint Stock Company - the project investor said that from October 27 to 29, Muong Thanh Market Management Board organized a reception of store registration, collecting information, wishes and business models from small traders.
According to the plan, Muong Thanh Market Communal House is arranged with nearly 300 business buildings, divided into many different industrial areas.
The project investor also said that on November 14 and 15, a series of traders began transporting furniture and goods to Dinh Cho area to arrange and prepare for business.
Talking to reporters, a trader said: "We are very excited to move to the new market. From now on, people have a convenient and stable place to do business, no longer worrying about the sun and rain like before".
However, this trader also hopes that the Market Management Board and local authorities will take drastic measures to completely end the rampant situation of street vending, so that all traders can enter the market to do business fairly.
The Muong Thanh Tourism Market project started construction in November 2023, belonging to Group B project; level III civil purpose project (market); level IV technical infrastructure project; level IV traffic project. The project's operation period is 50 years.
The project has outstanding items such as: Muong Thanh Market with a scale of 2 1-storey communal houses (area of 2,689m2); 1-storey auxiliary area, management board house (construction area of 245m2); 3-storey kiosk lot (construction area of 2,990m2) and kiosk surrounding the market (construction scale of 3.5 floors with a total area of over 2,700m2).
In addition, there is the DV01 service area (commercial and service works, landscape trees); the DV02 service area (oldscale of 5 floors) and the DV03 service area (oldscale of 5 floors).
When completed, the project will help improve the aesthetics, improve spontaneous business issues, improve the environment of existing market areas, build new places to supply goods, food, provisions... for local people, create jobs for hundreds of individual households participating in trading and exchanging goods.
With its location close to famous destinations such as A1 Hill, Muong Thanh Bridge, Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum... Muong Thanh tourist market is expected to attract tourists to visit and shop.
The Muong Thanh Tourist Market project is one of the projects started to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory (May 7, 2024).
However, site clearance is still facing many difficulties, and the project cannot be built on schedule. According to the investor, when there is enough land from December 2024, all human resources have been focused on to implement the project.
