Warning of possible storm in the Pacific Ocean

The Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) updates the situation of storms and depressions in the Northwest and South Pacific.

The Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) of the US Air Force and Navy has just issued a weather update for the Northwest and South Pacific regions in the next 24 hours.

In the Northwest Pacific region, according to JTWC, there are currently no recorded tropical cyclones. The convective area (INVEST 91W) previously monitored near coordinates 14.3 degrees North latitude; 130.6 degrees East longitude has weakened and there is no risk of developing into a storm in the next 24 hours.

However, a subtropical system (INVEST 92W) is located near latitude 28.3 degrees north; longitude 152.9 degrees east, approximately 68 nautical miles east-northeast of Iwo Jima, Japan. This system is currently classified as a subtropical cyclone, which has characteristics of both a tropical storm and a mid-latitude low pressure area.

According to the JTWC bulletin, satellite imagery shows a low-level circulation forming with convection moving poleward and eastward. The maximum winds recorded were 25 knots east of the circulation.

Environmental conditions are favorable for growth with weak wind shear, good upper-level outflow and warm sea surface temperatures (around 27-28°C).

However, the probability of this system developing into a tropical storm in the next 24 hours is assessed as low. The system is expected to move northeast and quickly become entangled in the upper atmosphere. Maximum surface winds are estimated at 22-27 knots, with a minimum sea level pressure of about 1006 mb.

In light of the above weather conditions, JTWC advises residents and vessels operating in the area to monitor updates from the national meteorological center or local forecasting agency for more details on hazardous phenomena and related warnings.

In the South Pacific, there are currently no notable tropical cyclones, tropical disturbances or subtropical systems on record.

Currently, the weather phenomena have not affected the mainland of the localities in the region, so tourists can travel safely if they plan to visit the above localities in the next few days. However, it is necessary to continuously update the weather situation from official sources, not excluding the case of complicated weather, unusual developments.
