From June 5-7, the People's Committee of Hue City hosted the 14th Conference on Local Government and the East Asia Region, with the participation of more than 200 delegates from 16 international localities (4 countries), 10 domestic localities, 2 international organizations, ministries, branches, and diplomatic representative agencies.
The conference aims to maintain the cooperation mechanism between localities that are members of the Conference on Local Government and the East Asia Region, enhance friendship and mutual trust between member local governments, seek opportunities for exchange and cooperation in many fields, contributing to promoting common peace and prosperity in the region.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee - Nguyen Van Phuong said that since the first years of the "Local Government and East Asia Region" Conference held in Nara province (Japan), Hue City has always considered the Conference an important forum for local and regional governments, to discuss common issues that the community is interested in and facing, discuss policy measures, enhance mutual understanding through open discussion and finding solutions to solve problems that all sides are interested in.
Speaking at the Conference, Ms. Le Thi Hong Van - Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sharing, East Asia is still one of the most dynamic economic growth areas in the world, the convergence of old, diverse, rich, rich cultures and still maintaining the "fulcrum" factors to be able to break out, become the main force of global economic growth.
The door to international integration and cooperation is now more open than ever; countries around the world are promoting solidarity, creativity and sustainable development. In that flow, cooperation between localities is not only an option, but a mission to together create safe, prosperous, sustainable and humane local communities, contributing to the peace, stability and development of the East Asian region as well as the whole world, Ms. Van said.

According to Ms. Le Thi Hong Van, sustainable development, inclusive and green growth in the digital age are becoming more urgent than ever for all countries and communities, especially when the world is in a period of unprecedented profound and comprehensive transformation in geopolitics, geoeconomics, strategic competition, strong shifting of economic centers, exploding science and technology, along with challenges in climate change, urbanization, energy security, traditional and non-traditional security are urgent.
At this conference, delegates focused on discussing difficulties and challenges; sharing experiences and development solutions on two main topics including "Developing green and sustainable tourism" and "Developing smart cities".
In particular, the thematic session "Developing green and sustainable tourism" with two main topics including: Health care tourism - unleashing potential, creating trends and Plastic-reducing tourism contributing to realizing the Net Zero goal.
