On July 14, Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee issued a decision recognizing the A Pa Chai Flagpole in Ta Mieu village, Sin Thau commune as a provincial-level tourist destination.
According to the decision, the People's Committee of Sin Thau commune is assigned to be the unit managing the tourist spot, responsible for organizing exploitation, management and development according to the provisions of the 2017 Tourism Law and related legal regulations.
In the decision, the Provincial People's Committee also assigned departments and branches including Culture, Sports and Tourism, Construction, Industry and Trade, Finance, Foreign Affairs, Provincial Police and the Provincial Border Guard Command to coordinate in guiding management, investment and construction, ensuring the development of tourist destinations in a sustainable and effective direction.


Previously, in 2025, Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee invested in a project to renovate and upgrade the road from Ta Mieu village to the foot of A Pa Chai Flagpole.
Accordingly, the project is about 8km long, divided into two sections. Section 1 is about 3.68km long, starting from the National Highway 4H2 intersection and ending at the border patrol road at Km5+900.
The route will be newly invested according to grade VI mountain road standards, cement concrete pavement.
Section 2 is about 4.3km long, connecting from the end of section 1 to the foot of the A Pa Chai Flagpole area. This section will have the roadside reinforced and the road surface upgraded on the existing concrete foundation.

The project belongs to group C, with a total investment of 40 billion VND from the local budget.
According to Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee, the project aims to gradually complete traffic infrastructure in the border area, serving patrol, control, and management of border lines and landmarks.
At the same time, effectively exploit infrastructure in a dual-use direction, creating conditions for tourism development associated with preserving local cultural and historical values.
The A Pa Chai flagpole is located in Ta Mieu village, Sin Thau commune (Dien Bien), on the top of Khoang La San, 1,459m high, about 1.4km from the Vietnam - Laos - China border crossing. The flagpole is 45.19m high, the flag is 37.5m2 wide, is a symbol affirming national border sovereignty, and at the same time becomes a highlight attracting tourists when coming to the westernmost point of the Fatherland.
