The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam stated that recently, a number of airlines have inspected unprofessional passenger carry-on baggage, causing inconvenience to passengers and affecting the image of the aviation industry.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has sent documents to domestic and foreign airlines operating flights to and from Vietnam regarding the inspection of carry-on baggage at the airport.
According to the document, the Department requires airlines to use standard, aesthetic luggage weighing devices, and clearly propagate luggage regulations on the website, ticket offices and the agency system.
In addition, airline employees also need to be thoroughly informed about the professional and friendly working attitude, in order to improve service quality and ensure flight departure on time.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, carrying too many things by hand can prolong the time to get on and off the plane. Eachkg of excess weight in the cabin affects the balance of the aircraft's weight, fuel capacity and closing time to depart on time. Every minute of delay at the departure gate can slow down the operation of a series of subsequent flights.
Therefore, when airlines tighten hand-carried baggage, it is not to make it difficult for passengers, but to ensure flight safety, reduce fuel costs and keep take-off time.

Previously, Vietnam Airlines applied a policy of collecting hand-carried baggage fees exceeding the standards right at the gate of the flight from November 3. This inspection by the airline is done at the gate of the plane instead of at the check-in counter, causing many passengers to complain and be accused of being unprofessional and harassing customers.
In fact, each airline in Vietnam and around the world has its own luggage standards. Many subjective passengers who do not consider their luggage in advance will be required to deposit quickly or pay a fee three times higher than when buying checked baggage online in advance.
Stricter control by airlines means that passengers need to pay attention to complying with regulations on weight and baggage size, should weigh and prepare carefully from home, and arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before domestic flights, and 180 minutes before international flights to have time to handle incidents.
