On July 3, flight number VN337 of Vietnam Airlines, departing from Osaka City (Japan), landed at Da Nang International Airport.
This is the first direct flight to connect again between Osaka - Da Nang after a temporary suspension, demonstrating the continuous efforts in restoring and expanding the air network connecting Da Nang and major cities of Japan.
As soon as they arrived at Da Nang International Airport, passengers on the flight were welcomed with art performances imbued with the cultural imprint of Vietnam and Japan.
At the same time, the first 3 lucky passengers were given fresh flowers, souvenirs and vouchers for round-trip flights to Japan - Vietnam from Vietnam Airlines.
All remaining passengers received a Danang FantastiCity gift bag, along with a preferential voucher for local tourism services, along with warm welcomes, demonstrating the hospitality and friendliness of Da Nang city.
The Northeast Asian market, especially Japan, is still one of the important international markets for Vietnam Airlines with an average growth rate of 20% per year.
To date, the total number of flights connecting Da Nang with major cities in Japan has been increased to 11 flights/week. In particular, the recently restored Osaka - Da Nang route has a frequency of 4 flights/week on Monday, Friday and Sunday. The Narita - Da Nang route is operating at a frequency of 7 flights/week.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai An - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, the resumption of direct flights from Japan has facilitated two-way exchange of visitors between Da Nang, Central Vietnam and major cities of Japan.
"The close coordination between destination promotion and flight restoration is clearly effective, in the first 6 months of 2025, Da Nang welcomed more than 108,000 overnight Japanese visitors, accounting for 4.16% of the total number of international visitors, a slight increase over the same period last year," said Ms. Hoai An.
Present at the welcoming ceremony, Mr. Mori Takero - Consul General of Japan in Da Nang, said that since July 1, Quang Nam province and Da Nang city have merged, so not only Da Nang destinations, but also Quang Nam's previous destinations such as Hoi An ancient city, My Son Holy Land will welcome many tourists from Japan, because green tourism and community tourism programs are very attractive to tourists from Japan.
