Da Nang tourism grows strongly
On October 17, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City chaired and coordinated with the Tourism Association and the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Fund to organize the Workshop "orientation for tourism development in Da Nang in the new period".

In her opening speech, Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh - Director of the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism of Da Nang said that recently, Da Nang tourism has grown strongly, becoming a bright spot in the local economy.
In the first 9 months of 2025, Da Nang welcomed about 14.4 million visitors (an increase of more than 22%), including 5.8 million international visitors. Tourism revenue reached nearly VND41,000 billion, up more than 25% over the same period, according to the City Statistics Office.
This is a positive signal showing the strong momentum of the city's tourism after the merger, while also showing the increasingly attractive appeal of Da Nang to the domestic and international markets.
According to Ms. Hanh, Da Nang City has entered a new context with an expanded development space of more than 10 times and a unique population size and diverse resources, which are expected to bring great opportunities for the tourism industry.
At the same time, there are significant challenges in synchronizing infrastructure and service quality in a large area, uneven development conditions, especially brand positioning and difficulties in investment resources to develop and perfect the tourism product system.
Ms. Hanh emphasized that this is the necessary time to adjust the planning and orientation for tourism development of the new Da Nang City and seek solutions to effectively exploit resources associated with traditional values, history and indigenous culture rich in the identity of the land of Quang.
"From there, building Da Nang into an attractive tourist destination for the world, contributing to the sustainable development of the city's economy, bringing jobs to businesses and local people" - Director of the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City said.
Aiming to become a leading international tourism center in Southeast Asia
Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh highly appreciated Da Nang's proactiveness and creativity in organizing activities to improve exploitation efficiency and attract domestic and international tourists.
According to Mr. Khanh, the Vietnam tourism development strategy to 2030 has identified tourism as a spearhead economic sector, sustainable development, aiming to make Vietnam a leading destination in Southeast Asia.

In the context of post-COVID-19, the tourism industry is strongly transforming in the green, smart, and creative trend - this is also a necessary direction for Da Nang to maintain double-digit growth momentum and affirm its new position.
Director Nguyen Trung Khanh emphasized seven key orientation groups of Vietnam's tourism, including improving transportation and technology infrastructure, diversifying tourism products, developing green tourism, applying digitalization, innovating and promoting brands, improving human resource quality and perfecting development support policies.
He especially paid attention to investing in specific products such as sea and island tourism, MICE, health care, culture - heritage, sports and experiential tourism, to increase value and attract new international tourist markets.
As for Da Nang, a major tourist center of the Central region, possessing a strategic location connecting the three world heritages of Hue - Hoi An - My Son, Mr. Khanh said that the city has made strong progress in infrastructure, services and products, but still lacks international-class products, limited adaptation to fluctuations, high seasonality and needs to pay more attention to environmental protection.

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism recommends that Da Nang determine the goal of becoming a leading international tourism center in Southeast Asia by 2030, positioning the brand as a high-quality "city of beach resorts, festivals, events and creativity".
The city needs to continue expanding Da Nang International Airport, developing Tien Sa tourist port to welcome high-end cruise ships, completing digital infrastructure, and enhancing flight connections with new markets such as the Middle East and India.
In parallel, Da Nang is recommended to strongly develop night tourism products - walking street, night market, cuisine, art performances, lighting - music, as well as expand heritage tours connecting Hue - Hoi An - My Son.
Promoting green tourism, limiting single-use plastic, preserving coral reefs, Son Tra ecosystem and encouraging the use of renewable energy is considered a top priority.
Regarding policy, the city needs to have a specific incentive mechanism to attract investment in high-end resorts, conference - exhibition and entertainment centers; at the same time, standardize service quality, train human resources, improve foreign language skills and service skills.
With clear orientations and the support of businesses, experts, etc., Da Nang will soon affirm its position as a leading tourism destination in Vietnam and the region, contributing to the sustainable development of the national tourism industry.
