From July 24 to August 24, at the Da Nang Cham Sculpture Museum, the Da Nang Cham Sculpture Museum in coordination with the Lam Dong Provincial Museum organized a thematic exhibition "Cham cultural imprints in Lam Dong".
The exhibition introduces about 30 artifacts and 100 images, focusing on two main contents: Cham architectural and sculptural heritage in Lam Dong and Cultural and religious life of the Cham people in Lam Dong. Through this, people and tourists have the opportunity to visually and vividly access Cham cultural values in the cultural space of the Central - Central Highlands region.
Through a system of images, artifacts and documents, the exhibition introduces a vivid picture of the lives of the two Cham communities of Bàlamôn (Ahiér) and Chăm Bàni (Awal) - two groups of residents of the same cultural origin but with distinct religious nuances.
In parallel with spiritual life, the Cham people are also famous for many traditional crafts. Although some crafts have faded over time, weaving and pottery are still preserved and continued to be passed down by the Cham community, contributing to preserving traditional cultural identity in contemporary life.
Based on indigenous beliefs and the worldview of "all things have a soul", the Cham people formed a system of rituals associated with worshiping gods, worshiping Mother Goddesses, worshiping ancestors, and many typical customs such as the custom of establishing Kut, the custom of worshiping stones, worshiping fertility symbols, and ancestral remembrance rituals according to each religion.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Le Thi Thu Trang, Director of the Da Nang Cham Sculpture Museum, said that the exhibition will contribute to spreading the good values of Cham culture to the general public. At the same time, it will continue to consolidate the close relationship between museums and localities in the work of preserving and promoting cultural heritage values.
For the first time introduced in Da Nang, these images and artifacts will bring the public and tourists the opportunity to explore the Cham cultural values preserved in Lam Dong, and at the same time feel more clearly the diversity and depth of Vietnamese culture," Ms. Trang emphasized.
Also at the opening ceremony, Ms. Lu Thai Tuyen, Deputy Director of the Lam Dong Provincial Museum, expressed her wish that the public at home and abroad would have more opportunities to learn and feel more deeply about the unique values of Cham culture in Lam Dong.
At the same time, Ms. Tuyen also believes that with the prestige, position and spread of the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture, the exhibition will be widely promoted, attracting a large number of tourists to visit, contributing to spreading the precious values of Cham cultural heritage to the community.
