The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. (local time) on July 16, Thai newspaper Matichon reported.
Initial investigation results showed that the cause of death of the victims was "poisoning".
Of these, five people were found dead in a hotel room and one person died outside.
Matichon announced the identities of the victims:
1. Ms. NGUYEN THI PHUONG LAN, Vietnamese nationality, 47 years old, entered Thailand on July 4, entered and exited Thailand 17 times.
2. Mr. PHAM THANH HONG, Vietnamese nationality, 49 years old, entered Thailand on July 12, has entered and exited Thailand 17 times.
3. Mr. TRAN DINH PHU, Vietnamese nationality, 37 years old, entered Thailand on July 12, entered and exited Thailand 11 times.
4. Ms. NGUYEN THI PHUONG, Vietnamese nationality, 46 years old. years old, entered Thailand on July 12, entered Thailand 3 times.
5. Ms. SHERINE CHONG, American nationality, 56 years old, entered Thailand on July 5, entered and exited Thailand 5 times.
6. Mr. DANG VAN HUNG, American nationality, 55 years old, entered Thailand on July 7, entered Thailand once.
Major General Pol. Thiradej Thamsuthee, Commander of the Investigation Department, Bangkok City Police Department, revealed that the dead included 3 men and 3 women, all foreigners, with traces showing that they drank tea and coffee before dying.
An anonymous police officer denied previous reports in Thai media that six people were killed in a shooting.
“There are no signs of a shooting,” the person told Reuters without further explanation.
Matichon newspaper initially reported that there had been a shooting at a "luxury hotel" in the Ratchaprasong area of Bangkok.
The Thai Prime Minister ordered an investigation into the incident.
Currently, police and health authorities have not commented on the incident.
Ratchaprasong is a shopping and entertainment area located next to the famous Siam area, where many large shopping centers such as MBK Center are concentrated.
Last year, a 14-year-old boy opened fire at the luxury Siam Paragon shopping mall in Bangkok's busy commercial district, killing two people and injuring five.
