On the evening of December 13, the Merry Christmas and Ryuichi Sakamoto concert took place at the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
This is the first time in Vietnam that there has been a program to thank legendary composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, a musical symbol with a profound influence of the 20th and 21st centuries.

In nearly two hours, the three talented artists, Pianist Thai Ha, Violinist Ngoc Huy and Cellist Ha Mien, presented 16 pieces of music that were personal, like a musical memoir for the audience to slowly enjoy.
Merry Christmas concert, Ryuichi Sakamoto was inspired by the spirit of Trio World Tour 1996, the time that marked Sakamoto's return to minimalist and rustic music, transitioning from layers of electronic sound to the form of a piano - violin - cello trio.

This trio structure has been chosen by many music festivals in Tokyo, Paris or New York, as the most complete form of expressing the Sakamoto spirit: few musical instruments but many emotions, no ostentation but only sincere dialogue.
The harmony between the piano and the strings recreates the emotions of Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, Rain, The Last Emperor... in a close, realistic and profound appearance.
Ryuichi Sakamoto is a globally famous Japanese musician, a pioneer in combining classical music with electronics, film music and synth-pop.
LoudSound music night #8: Merry Christmas, Ryuichi Sakamoto is not only an opportunity to feel the delicate, emotional melodies he left behind, but also a tribute to the late legendary musician.

The second day of Merry Christmas and Ryuichi Sakamoto concert will take place on December 19 at the Vietnam National Academy of Music, promising to bring many emotional experiences to the audience.
Ryuichi Sakamoto (1952-2023) was the first Japanese to win an Oscar for Best Choreography for his work in The Last Emperor (1987). The soundtracks he co-composed for The Last Emperor and The Sheltering Sky (1990) also brought him 2 Golden Globe Awards.
In the film music industry alone, he collaborated with the brightest and most famous names such as Bernardo Bertolucci (The Last Buddha), Brian De Palma ( Snake Eyes, Femme Fatale), Oliver Stone (Wild Palms), Pedro Almodovar (High Heels), and Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu in The Revenant (2005), starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
In addition to a total of more than 50 films, including documentaries, he was also invited to compose the opening music for the Barcelona 1992 Olympics.
In the hearts of film audiences, he is the actor who plays officer Yonoi alongside David Bowie in the war films Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (1983).
