On the evening of January 3, information from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien province said that the total number of visitors and tourists to the province during the New Year holiday (from January 1-4) is expected to reach 80,000 (of which over 12,000 tourists are staying).
Compared to the Lunar New Year 2025 (only 1 day off), the number of visitors this year increased 5.2 times. Total revenue from tourism activities is estimated at nearly 100 billion VND. The average room occupancy rate throughout the province reached 50%.
The attraction of Dien Bien tourism this year comes from a series of large-scale events. Notably, Muong Lay ward organized the 11th Swallowtail Boat Racing Festival, associated with cultural, sports, and tourism activities in 2026.
In particular, the Vietnam Record-breaking event with about 10,000 people participating in "Dance of Solidarity by the Da Giang River", contributed to welcoming 40,000 visitors.
In addition, the cherry blossom garden tourist destination (Muong Phang commune) is entering the season of showing off its brilliant colors, welcoming over 15,000 visitors to admire and "check-in".
