On February 25th, the Dien Bien Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that the Ban Flower Festival 2026 will be held from December 6th to 12th. In which, key activities will take place in Dien Bien Phu ward.
Previously, according to the initial plan, the Ban Flower Festival 2026 was expected to take place at the end of the month (from March 20-26).
The Ban Flower Festival is a typical cultural event, organized annually by Dien Bien province in mid-March every year, associated with the opening event of the historic Dien Bien Phu Campaign (March 13, 1954).
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the highlight of the Festival is the opening art program taking place on the evening of March 8 at the Provincial Stadium.
The program is expected to be broadcast live on Vietnam Television (VTV) and will be elaborately staged, harmoniously combining traditional art and the application of modern digital technology.
On the evening of March 9, visitors will immerse themselves in the exciting atmosphere of the Street Carnival, including model car parades, street art performances on the main roads of Dien Bien Phu ward.
The reality show performance "U Va Legend" will take place from March 6-12 in U Va village, Thanh Yen commune. The show will introduce legends, history and unique folk dances of the Thai ethnic group.
Besides art, sports activities are also organized on a large scale with the Road Cycling Race and the "Returning to Dien Bien Phu expanded in 2026" cross-country race.
In particular, tourists will witness contests imbued with heroic memories of the Dien Bien Phu campaign such as: Bicycle pushing contest, ammunition loading (March 7-8 in the Muong Thanh bridge area); Artillery pulling contest (March 7 in the A1 Hill area)...
