The Art for Climate Festival will take place in Ha Long (Quang Ninh) from January 13 to January 19, 2025. The festival will be attended by more than 80,000 people, including 200 European billionaires. The billionaires will come to Ha Long by super yacht.
The World Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay was chosen as the venue for the event because of its high symbolic value. It possesses magnificent natural landscapes but its ecosystem is suffering negative impacts from climate change and human pressure.
Mr. Olivier Brochet - French Ambassador to Vietnam, speaking at the event announcement on September 16, said that the project is a combination of art and environmental responsibility to raise awareness of planet protection, in line with current challenges.
Ha Long Bay is a favorite destination for domestic and foreign tourists. In recent years, Ha Long tourism has developed with many new experiences, including exploring the bay by cruise, attracting a large number of tourists.
Ha Long Bay has about 4,000-6,000 visitors every day, of which 90% are international visitors.
Not only visiting the bay, the city has built the project "Ha Long - Festival City" with 17 provincial and city level festivals and events and 14 commune and ward level festivals and events to create a more diverse space for sightseeing and entertainment for tourists.
Up to now, a number of festivals and events have been successfully organized such as: Car Festival - Fun Wheels Festival Ha Long 2024; sailing, parasailing, and jet skiing festival "Overcoming the Waves of Ha Long - 2024" and hot air balloon festival "Heritage City - Colors of Ha Long"...
From now until the end of the year, the city will create conditions for businesses to organize large-scale cultural and sports events in the area: Heritage Marathon (December) with over 15,000 participants; Vietnam - Korea Music Festival (November, December); Miss Vietnam Student (December).
In addition, it is expected that in November, the city will launch a hot air balloon flight service (fixed anchor) to see the bay and Ha Long city in Tuan Chau ward.
In the first 9 months of the year, Ha Long welcomed 9.2 million visitors, including 2.13 million international visitors, 2.3 times higher than the same period in 2023. Total tourism revenue is estimated at about 20,300 billion VND.
Notably, in early September, Ha Long was one of three destinations (along with Hanoi and Ninh Binh) to welcome a group of 4,500 tourists from the Indian billionaire's pharmaceutical company for sightseeing and tourism. This large-scale event shows that Ha Long is ready to welcome large-scale international delegations with high demands. At the same time, this also partly demonstrates the attraction of Ha Long tourism to foreign tourists.
To attract tourists in the fall and winter, Ha Long City has also proactively maximized the effectiveness of its tourism and transportation infrastructure, especially the flow of cruise passengers through Ha Long International Passenger Port. Besides visiting Ha Long Bay, this group of visitors also loves to explore and learn about local culture.
