According to a report by the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the number of international visitors to the Capital in the first 5 months of the year reached about 4.06 million, an increase of 28.1%; domestic visitors reached 10.92 million, an increase of 13.7%. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at 62.77 trillion VND, an increase of 20.6% compared to the same period last year.
In the first quarter of 2026 alone, Hanoi welcomed 9.05 million tourist arrivals, an increase of 23.7% compared to the same period in 2025. Of which, there were 2.51 million international visitors and 6.54 million domestic visitors. Total revenue from tourism reached 38.22 trillion VND.
The average room occupancy rate of the hotel sector in the first 5 months of the year is estimated to reach 65.7%, an increase of 2.6 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, as of May 2026, the city currently has 3.761 accommodation establishments with more than 71,000 rooms. Among them, there are 65 hotels and apartment complexes rated from 1-5 stars with nearly 10,000 rooms.
Hanoi also has nearly 2,000 international travel businesses, more than 550 domestic travel businesses with 7,255 international tour guides, 2,621 domestic tour guides and 158 point tour guides.
In the first 5 months of the year, Hanoi's tourism industry organized many major promotional activities to attract tourists. Notably, the Hanoi Tourism Festival 2026 with the theme "Green Tourism - Digital Experience" held at Thong Nhat Park attracted nearly 80,000 visitors to experience tourism spaces, digital technology, culture, craft villages and cuisine.

Hanoi is also actively participating in promotional activities such as the Vietnam International Travel Mart - VITM Hanoi 2026, promoting tourism on digital platforms and coordinating with airlines in destination communication.
According to the plan in the coming time, Hanoi will continue to develop more new tourism products to enhance the experience for tourists.
The city is completing 5 new tourism models including: Muong Coc community tourism in My Duc; "Hao Khi Thanh Giong" night tourism product in Soc Son; "Dong Vu Bamboo Soul" model; agricultural experience tourism model associated with Kim Lan - Van Duc pottery village; and community tourism product in Yen Xuan. Among them, the Muong Coc village model is expected to open on July 1, 2026.
In addition, the city continues to expand river tourism routes along the Red River, themed railway tourism route "Hanoi - 5 gateways", develop adventure sports tourism in the Bu hill area (Xuan Mai), health care tourism and agricultural and community tourism models.
Hanoi Department of Tourism is also coordinating to build dossiers to recognize 3 national tourist areas including Hoan Kiem Lake area and its vicinity, Huong Son tourist area and Ba Vi tourist area. At the same time, the city continues to complete projects to develop river tourism, night economy and digital transformation in the tourism industry.
The Capital's tourism industry strives to welcome about 9.04 million international visitors and 27.27 million domestic visitors in the whole year of 2026, with total tourism revenue expected to reach about 160 trillion VND.
