A Haidilao restaurant in Shanghai, China, has announced that it will refund all meal costs and provide additional cash compensation 10 times the value of all 4,109 customer invoices for 13 days the facility was affected for serving the investigation, according to the Global Times.
The incident began in a recently gone viral video, recording a man standing on a dining table at a Halidao restaurant pouring liquid into a boiling hotpot.

According to preliminary investigation information from Shanghai police, on February 24, 2025, Tang and Wu, two 17-year-old male tourists from other provinces, went to eat in a private room at a Halidao restaurant in Shanghai with friends.
Both were drunk and urinated into a hotpot. Wu later posted a video of the action online. The police have detained Tang and Wu for investigation.
Three days later, Haidilao issued a notice via Weibo about the incident and a compensation notice for customers who ate and drank during the affected period.

Haidilao apologizes to customers. All diners who paid a total of 4,109 bills at the restaurant from 12:00 on February 24 to 12:00 on March 8 will be refunded all costs, plus cash compensation 10 times the amount paid.
In addition, Haidilao filed a civil lawsuit in the Hoang Pho District Court in Shanghai on March 10, requesting legal action against the two guests.
The restaurant has also replaced all hotpot processing equipment and eating utensils, including chopsticks, and carefully cleaned and disinfected to ensure hygiene standards.
