On the evening of November 15, in Hoa Binh City, a fishing ceremony and flower lantern release ceremony took place on the Da River. The program is within the framework of the second Da River Fish and Shrimp Festival in Hoa Binh Province in 2024.
According to Lao Dong, thousands of people and tourists flocked to the Da River bank to watch the event.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Dinh Cong Su - Vice Chairman of Hoa Binh Provincial People's Committee shared that the fishing ceremony and flower lantern release on Da River have profound spiritual meaning.
Through this activity, we contribute to honoring the spiritual cultural values and beauty in the spiritual culture of the Vietnamese people with the purpose of praying for national peace and prosperity, favorable weather and gratitude to those who have contributed to the fisheries industry.
According to provincial leaders, the above rituals have helped preserve and promote the values of traditional national cultural identity.
Floating lanterns on the Da River are both aesthetic and unique, and have spiritual value in cultural traditions, while also creating a highlight to introduce and promote tourism products imbued with the cultural identity and people of Hoa Binh.
"With each flower lantern lit, each person prays for a good thought, a peaceful thought, wishing for luck and well-being for themselves and for everyone. At the 2023 Fish Praying and Flower Lantern Releasing Ceremony, we released sparkling flower lanterns on the Da River and this year we continue to enjoy the feeling of peace in that moment once again" - the leader of Hoa Binh province shared.
