On May 29, at Hon Tranh beach - one of the prominent destinations of Phu Quy island, Binh Thuan province, nearly 100 people including local tour guides, tourism businesses, members of Phu Quy Tourism Association and people and tourists participated in the Ocean Cleanup program.

The activity was launched by Phu Quy Tourism Association to clean the Hon Tranh coast and respond to World Environment Day (5.6), World Ocean Day (8.6).
Hon Tranh is an island in a small cluster of islands around Phu Quy island and is about 800m from the mainland. With an area of about 2.7km2, this place has a smooth white sand beach, clear blue sea water and is an attractive destination for tourists when coming to Phu Quy Island.

From early morning, volunteers took a canoe from Phu Quy Island to Hon Tranh and divided into groups to collect plastic waste and clean along the beach. At the same time, propagate to tourists and residents about protecting the marine environment.
Many tourists visiting Hon Tranh proactively participated, joining hands to pick up trash with volunteers.


Mr. Ngo Minh Pho - Head of Phu Quy Tourism Association said that the program has attracted many young people working in tourism on the island to participate. This is not only a coastal cleanup activity but also demonstrates the strong commitment of the local tourism community to promoting the development of green, sustainable and responsible tourism.

The program is also an opportunity for individuals and tourism organizations in the locality to connect and share good values for the marine and island environment.
The volunteers collected many plastic bags of waste and brought them together for treatment. Hon Tranh beach is cleaner and more beautiful to welcome visitors to the peak of summer tourism.
With the message of nature conservation, climate regulation, and pollution reduction, the activity has left a good impression on people and tourists and connected young people in tourism to develop Phu Quy island tourism more and more sustainably.
