Based on the proposed project, Hoi An authorities will take Tran Phu Street - known as "the most beautiful street in the world" and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street to build and develop into a model civilized street, a street without plastic bags, plastic waste, no begging and no soliciting.
To implement the proposed project, Hoi An city will mobilize residents and businesses on these two roads to join hands to build a civilized street. These two roads will be renovated and renovated in a harmonious direction, suitable for the ancient town landscape, towards a civilized, safe and friendly sightseeing and shopping area for tourists.
Not only that, the stores will also be decorated and displayed according to regulations. The owners of the business establishments are required to behave politely, civilly, and friendly with customers, the goods must be clearly listed, and not solicit customers.
In addition, the authorities will thoroughly handle solicitation, baiting, begging, street vending, and noise pollution on these two routes.
It is known that these two model walking streets will be piloted this year and Tran Phu Street and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street will become the first two walking streets in Hoi An to say no to plastic bags and plastic waste. In addition, Hoi An aims to expand the model to the entire old town and buffer zone by 2025.
According to statistics, there are currently 236 businesses on Tran Phu and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai streets, accounting for 4% of the total number of businesses in Hoi An city. Notably, both of these streets are the main roads of the ancient town, attracting a large number of tourists to visit and shop every day.
