On August 7, Vung Tau Ward People's Committee (HCMC) said it is coordinating with accompanying units to deploy propaganda on limiting the use of single-use plastic items at stores and cafes in the area.
This is an activity within the program to spread the "Green Drink Store - Reduce Plastic Waste" and "Green Point Acceleration" models implemented by the locality to contribute to reducing plastic waste and raising environmental awareness in the community.
In operation, the force of officials and civil servants of Vung Tau ward directly went to many coffee shops in the area to propagate to business owners, managers, staff and diners about the harms of using disposable plastics.
At the same time, mobilize business establishments and people to gradually change consumption habits towards being environmentally friendly; give stores "Green Point Accumulation" vouchers and thermos to implement the gift exchange program for customers.
In the "Green Point Acceleration" program, when customers bring their own glasses, personal vases or cloth bags when buying drinks, they will receive a point accumulation voucher; customers who use drinks at the shop and are served with glass glasses will also receive a point accumulation voucher. When accumulating enough 6 points, customers will be exchanged for a gift of a thermos presented by Vung Tau Ward People's Committee.
According to Vung Tau Ward People's Committee, initially implemented, the activity received positive response from shop owners, service staff and diners. Through this, more than 20 shops in the central area (on Trung Trac, Trung Nhi, Tran Hung Dao streets...) participated, with hundreds of gifts for customers to respond.
In addition, the facility that actively deploys and attracts customers to participate will also be commended and awarded the honorary plaque "Stores actively accompanying the environment of Vung Tau 2026".
