On the afternoon of October 14, at the conference to evaluate tourism activities in Da Nang City in the first 9 months of 2024, Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh - Director of the Department of Tourism of Da Nang City said that compared to 2019, the rate of Korean, Chinese, Thai, and Japanese tourists to Da Nang has decreased, especially the Korean and Chinese markets. Offsetting this decline is the growth of a number of new markets such as Taiwan (China), India, Australia...
This reality reflects the shift of some traditional markets to new destinations, and also clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of the policy of diversifying the international tourist market with promotional efforts.
From there, it is necessary to seek to expand the market, restore and develop direct international flights, increase the organization of festivals and events to attract visitors and communication and promotion work for the city's Da Nang destination... to maintain and increase the number of tourists to Da Nang.
The Director of the Department of Tourism of Da Nang City proposed that the city continue to consider increasing funding and budget for activities to promote Da Nang tourism abroad, funding for organizing events, festivals and tourism stimulus programs for the international tourist market in the coming time.
“As of September 2024, there are 20 routes to Da Nang (5 domestic routes and 15 regular international routes). A new route from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) to Da Nang has been opened, and the route from Amedabad (India) and Jakarta (Indonesia) will be opened in 2024. In the first 9 months of 2024, the sea route welcomed 32,550 passengers to Da Nang. As for the railway route, it is expected to welcome 648,540 passengers in 2024,” Ms. Hanh informed.
Accordingly, some businesses in Da Nang believe that Korean and Chinese tourists are currently tending to come to Nha Trang. To rebuild operations, the tourism industry needs to diversify its tourist markets, focusing on markets such as Korea, India, Australia, Taiwan (China), Japan, etc.
According to Ms. Hanh, in the first 9 months of the year, the total number of visitors is estimated at 8.67 million, an increase of 33% over the same period in 2023. Of which, international visitors are estimated at more than 3.17 million, an increase of 30%; domestic visitors are estimated at more than 5.49 million, an increase of 34%. Revenue from accommodation, food and beverage, and travel in the first 9 months of 2024 is estimated at more than VND 26,000 billion.
