To collect fees, Nha Trang Bay Management Board is researching and implementing the collection of sightseeing fees scientifically and reasonably according to regulations.
According to the new regulations, tourists traveling by inland waterway on islands in Nha Trang Bay (outside strictly protected sub-zone) will have to pay by tour, not including the number of days of stay.
The collection rate is specifically determined: The routes to Hon Mieu, Hon Tam, Hon Tre, Hon Mot, Hon Mun are from 6,000 - 10,000 VND/person/trip; the total routes are 40,000 VND/person/trip, excluding accident insurance.
Some exempted subjects include: Children under 6 years old, people with disabilities, people in Khanh Hoa and other policy cases. Subjects with a 50% fee reduction include: children aged 6 - 16, people over 60 years old, poor households, students, people with meritorious services to the revolution...
The fee collection aims to create a stable financial source for the management and conservation of Nha Trang Bay. In recent times, the marine environment here - especially the coral reef in Hon Mun - has seriously degraded.
Nha Trang Bay is one of 16 national marine reserves and the first marine reserve in Vietnam, with an area of nearly 250km2.
Previously, in 2004, Khanh Hoa collected fees for visiting the bay (5,000 VND/trip) but by 2010, the collection scope was narrowed, only applied in Hon Mun.
By 2022, after the mass coral death incident, the province has issued a comprehensive plan to restore the bay to 2030, including solutions to create sustainable financial resources.
Mr. Dam Hai Van - representative of Nha Trang Bay Management Board - said: "After the Provincial People's Committee implements Resolution No. 02, the Board will apply fee collection in accordance with regulations. Currently, the fee collection has not been carried out."
