International visitors to Vietnam in July 2024 reached 1.15 million, an increase of 10.9% compared to the same period last year, according to a report from the General Statistics Office.
South Korea continues to be Vietnam's largest source market with nearly 2.6 million arrivals (accounting for 26%). China ranks second, reaching 2.1 million arrivals (accounting for 21.4%). The two markets of South Korea and China contribute nearly 50% of the total international visitors to Vietnam.
In third place is Taiwan (China) with 732,000 arrivals, the US in fourth place with 478,000 arrivals, and Japan in fifth place with 380,000 arrivals.
The top 10 largest international source markets for Vietnam's tourism industry also include Malaysia and Australia (281,000 arrivals), India (272,000 arrivals), Cambodia (260,000 arrivals), and Thailand (248,000 arrivals).
Most markets recorded growth, with Asia increasing by 57%, mainly driven by major markets in Northeast Asia: China increased by 190%, South Korea increased by 37%, Japan increased by 34%, and Taiwan (China) increased by 76%.
Southeast Asian markets such as Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Singapore showed good growth, with the exception of the Thai market, which declined.
European markets continued to grow well in the first 7 months of the year (up 47%), with strong growth markets such as the UK, France, Germany, and Russia...
Despite being the low season for international tourism, the number of visitors from European markets in July still increased compared to the previous month.
According to the assessment of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, this is a very positive signal from a key area of Vietnam's tourism, showing the effectiveness of the open visa policy and a series of promotional activities by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism in recent times in major markets such as France, Germany, Italy, and Russia.
With the peak season for international tourism coming in the last months of the year, along with a series of promotional activities in many key markets, it is expected that Vietnam's tourism industry will successfully achieve the goal of welcoming 17-18 million international visitors in 2024.
