The tourism industry in general and the accommodation sector in particular are currently facing many difficulties and challenges. The workforce is changing, the prices of raw materials, equipment, and food are increasing day by day. Customers are increasingly demanding and demanding on service quality.
This is an issue that Ms. Do Thi Hong Xoan - Vice President of the Vietnam Tourism Association, President of the Vietnam Hotel Branch Association, suggested at the workshop "optimizing operating costs in hotels" on March 18.
The problem for accommodation establishments is how to reduce operating costs, improve service quality, and human resources, according to the Chairman of the Vietnam Hotel Association.
"optimizing operating costs in hotels is an important task, the key to ensuring success, increasing profits and sustainable development of the hotel," Ms. Do Thi Hong Xoan affirmed.

Discussing the issue of effective cost management in hotels, Dr. Tran Huy Duc, lecturer at the Faculty of Tourism and H hospitality (National Economics University) said that one of the core factors that create a competitive advantage in hotel cost management is low cost, but must be differentiated and create unique products.
According to this expert, hotels should apply technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to replace humans to reduce costs and optimize operating costs.
From the side of the accommodation business unit, Mr. Le Minh Thai - Representative of the Investor of Pullman Hai Phong Hotel, agreed that hotels currently tend to optimize costs by applying digital transformation and automation, renting outside of services, building flexible pricing strategies and a friendly, sustainable application model.
"The shift in operating cost structure is an inevitable trend. Hospitals need to proactively adapt to maintain profits and growth. Investing in technology, flexible human resources to change and optimize processes is the key to success," said Mr. Le Minh Thai.

At the workshop, delegates proposed solutions to optimize operating costs in hotels, emphasizing the optimization of costs for human resource use, food, energy saving, etc.
However, one factor that accommodation businesses must pay attention to is that reducing costs does not mean reducing service quality, affecting the experience of tourists.
