Vietnamese tourist's backpack containing money stolen while traveling to Thailand

Thai police arrested a Myanmar suspect accused of stealing a backpack from a Vietnamese female tourist at a shopping center in central Bangkok.

The incident happened at about 7:40 pm on March 22, when Ms. Q.T. T. H., a Vietnamese female tourist, was shopping at a shopping center in the Pathumwan area, Bangkok, Thailand.

This tourist's backpack was said to have been stolen without her knowing.

At 8:23 PM on the same day, the tourist reported it at Pathumwan police station.

Immediately after that, functional forces quickly checked the surveillance camera system and identified the suspect as a thin man, wearing a T-shirt and dark pants, leaving the shopping center in the direction of Phaya Thai street.

Police followed the trail and arrested the suspect 2 hours after receiving the report. The suspect was identified as Lane, 31 years old, Myanmar nationality.

At the investigating agency, this person admitted to the act of theft. Police recovered exhibits at the suspect's residence, including a black backpack and cash with various currencies such as 9,500 baht, USD and Vietnamese Dong.

The female tourist then confirmed that all the property belonged to her. The suspect was prosecuted on charges of theft at night and handed over to the investigating agency for handling according to legal regulations.
