Located at 1-3-5-7 Dinh Tien Hoang Street, the "Shark Dock" building was built in 1991 and inaugurated in 1993. This project consists of 6 floors located right on Hoan Kiem Lake, opposite Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square.
The building is managed and operated by Hanoi Transport Corporation (Transerco), a state-owned enterprise under the Hanoi People's Committee.
This building was built in 1991 and completed in 1993, designed by architect Ta Xuan Van. However, the architecture of the building changed during the construction process compared to the original design.
The name "Shark's Ham" was once attributed to this building with a sarcastic and mocking meaning because the architecture has a portion of the facade with many blocks emerging like sharks.

Previously, this was a management point for Hanoi's electric vehicle routes with only 1 floor. Since its construction, the Shark Ham building has encountered many controversies about its architecture and inappropriate location.
Many people think that the large building has obscured the view, narrowing the landscape around Hoan Kiem Lake and breaking the ancient beauty of the old town.
The location of the building is said to have blocked the connection point between the old town and Hoan Kiem Lake. The building is like a retaining wall, causing the landscape of Hoan Kiem Lake to shrink.

In the near future, this project will be demolished according to the city's project. In parallel, Hanoi also studies the location of the stage at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square and on the roads leading to the center of the square, suitable stands, considering the locations north of Thuy Ta building (in the photo), the lobby of Thang Long puppetry Theater...
The Office of the Hanoi People's Committee also issued the conclusion of Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan at the meeting to consider the design and renovation plan of Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square (Hoan Kiem District).
Specifically, the leaders of the Hanoi People's Committee assigned relevant units to study about 3 basements in the "Sharp" area, specifically proposing the function of basement use (arranging cultural and commercial space in basement 1, parking area in basement 2.3); in case there is no parking arrangement, it can be used as a dual-use space.
