Celebrating 995 years of fame, Nghe An strives to become an attractive destination

Nghe An - After the celebration of 995 famous names, the province has activated a series of cultural tourism products, aiming to become an attractive destination.

Driving force for tourism development

On September 17, information from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nghe An province said that the celebration of 995 famous names and 95 years of the Soviet Union in Nghe Tinh has just been successfully held, creating new momentum for tourism development in the province.

The ceremony took place at the Nghe Tinh Soviet Museum with the participation of central leaders, leaders of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, revolutionary veterans and a large number of people. The event honors the depth of history and affirms the strategy of linking heritage conservation with the development of cultural and tourism industries.

On the same occasion, the cluster "Sites marking the Soviet Nghe Tinh Movement of 1930-1931 in Nghe An" was recognized as a special national monument, including 9 typical locations such as Ben Thuy Intersection, Vo Liet Communal House, Luong Son Communal House, where 72 Soviet soldiers of Nghe Tinh were shot, the tombs of martyrs who died on November 7, 1930, where the French army tortured the struggle on September 12, 1930 and the revolutionary facility at Mr. Vi Van Khang's house.

This is a "red address" system with traditional educational values, opening up space to form memory tours, thematic tours and experiential activities for students and tourists.

Within the framework of the celebration, the night show "Loi Xo Viet" was launched according to an outdoor performance model combining lighting, music, 3D mapping recreating the atmosphere of the 1930-1931 movement. The program is expected to operate periodically on Saturday evenings, contributing to extending the length of stay, stimulating spending on night services, creating more highlights for the night-time economy in Vinh and surrounding areas.

Mr. Le Hong Vinh, Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee shared: "Proud of 995 years of our name, we are more aware of our responsibility for the present and the future. Nghe An will take advantage of new opportunities, promote cultural and historical values to develop sustainable tourism, improve service quality and image of the destination".

Every year, Nghe An tourism has had impressive results. In 2024, the whole province welcomed about 9.45 million visitors, of which 5.93 million were overnight, about 120.5 thousand were international, tourism revenue reached 11,160 billion VND. In the first 8 months of 2025, the locality welcomed 8.21 million visitors, tourism revenue was about 9,792 billion VND.

Service capacity continues to be strengthened with about 928 accommodation establishments, more than 22,000 rooms, including high-class hotels in Vinh and Cua Lo, capable of welcoming MICE groups, beach resorts, and cultural and sports events. The infrastructure connecting roads and railways is being upgraded; Vinh Airport is in the renovation phase, after completion, it will expand capacity, improve service quality, create leverage to attract direct flights and expand the customer market.

In addition to the " Sharp Swallow" of the Sea, Nghe An owns the Western Biosphere Reserve of more than 1.3 million hectares with core areas of Pu Mat, Pu Huong, Pu Hoat, rich in potential for eco-tourism, trekking, research, and community tourism.

The axis connecting Cua Lo sea - Nam Dan - the Western forest helps extend the season, diversify experiences, and reduce dependence on summer peak season.

Ms. Tran Thi My Hanh, Director of Nghe An Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism, said: "The fire of the Soviet Union is not only a highlight of the celebration week but also an experiment in the night tourism model associated with heritage. The Department will coordinate with operating units periodically, and at the same time build more outdoor performance products, digital explanations, and experience maps to increase accommodation time and spending".

According to the Director of Nghe An Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism, from the event boost, Nghe An aims to become a leading attractive destination in the North Central region, focusing on three main groups of solutions: developing key products including night tourism, walking street, light shows, souvenir tours; upgrading destination infrastructure including beaches, boat docks, parking lots, public toilets, etc. multi-lingue signs; promoting digital transformation in the morning, electronic tickets, and experience maps; at the same time, connecting the region with Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Thanh Hoa to optimize domestic and international tourist flows.
