In the first 7 months of 2026, Lai Chau province is estimated to welcome more than 1.1 million visitors, an increase of more than 9.3% compared to the same period in 2025, reaching nearly 75% of the annual plan. Total revenue from tourism activities is estimated to reach over 1,007 billion VND.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lai Chau province, in July alone, the locality welcomed nearly 140,000 visitors, of which about 12,000 were international visitors, an increase of 5.6 times compared to the same period. Tourism revenue in July reached more than 149 billion VND, with an average room occupancy rate of nearly 60%.
Mr. Tran Quang Khang - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lai Chau province - said that Lai Chau focuses on improving the quality of destinations through developing typical products, exploiting natural landscapes and cultural identity of 20 ethnic groups. This is the basis for extending stay time, increasing spending and building a safe, friendly, and unique tourism image of Lai Chau.
Over the past time, the province has organized many cultural, sports and investment promotion events such as Then Kin Pang festival, Le Thai To King Temple festival, Lai Chau province mountain climbing tournament for the IV time - Conquering Ta Lien Son peak and many national-level sports tournaments. The activities contribute to attracting visitors and increasing destination recognition.
Lai Chau also promotes and advertises in domestic markets through the Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM Hanoi 2026), the "Spring Colors in All Regions of the Fatherland" festival, the "Colors of Culture of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups" program and many events in Phu Tho and Dien Bien.
Along with promotion, the province focuses on investing in and embellishing community tourism sites, renewing experiential products associated with indigenous culture, ecotourism, nature exploration and extreme sports. Management, improving service quality and applying digital transformation in tourism business are also strengthened.
Lai Chau is completing the general planning of two national tourist areas, O Quy Ho and Sin Ho plateau, hoping to create more room to attract investment and develop high-quality tourism products.
In the last months of the year, the province is expected to organize Lai Chau Tourism - Culture Week, Y-Fest Concert, Independence Day activities on September 2nd, Lai Chau Marathon for the 3rd time and Pavi Ancient Stone Road Marathon. The activities are expected to contribute to stimulating tourism demand, promoting regional linkages and attracting more tourists.
