On May 1, information from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lao Cai province, during the April 30 - May 1 holiday, Lao Cai welcomed about 540,000 visitors, an increase of 19.5% compared to the same period in 2025.
In which, domestic tourists accounted for the majority with 512,000 arrivals, and international tourists reached about 28,000 arrivals.
Key tourist areas recorded a high increase in the number of visitors. Sa Pa Ward led with about 182,000 visitors, and on April 30 alone, it welcomed 65,000 visitors.
Lao Cai ward is estimated to welcome 80,000 visitors, Bac Ha commune about 34,000 visitors. Meanwhile, Nghia Lo ward and Mu Cang Chai commune welcomed 25,000 and 24,000 visitors respectively.
Total revenue from tourism during the holiday is estimated at about 1,250 billion VND, an increase of 15% compared to the previous year.

Accumulated to the end of the holiday (until May 3), Lao Cai welcomed about 5.41 million visitors, reaching 48% of the annual plan. Of which, international visitors are estimated at 759,000. Accumulated tourism revenue reached about 20,200 billion VND, equivalent to 40% of the set plan.
This year's holiday lasts for 4 consecutive days, festival activities and tourism events in the area are organized methodically and ensure safety.
Tourism businesses proactively prepare facilities and human resources, maintain stable service quality.
Notably, no price increases or price pressures have been recorded, contributing to maintaining the image of a friendly and safe destination in the eyes of tourists.

Leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lao Cai province assessed that the impressive growth results during the holiday show the increasing attractiveness of typical tourism products, especially resort tourism, cultural experience and festivals in Sa Pa, Mu Cang Chai, Bac Ha.
The fact that the number of visitors has increased sharply but still ensures stable prices, service quality and security and order is a positive sign, showing the proactiveness and professionalism of localities and tourism businesses.
