Lao Cai establishes a Steering Committee for tourism development

The People's Committee of Lao Cai province has just issued a decision to establish a Steering Committee for tourism development.

According to the Decision, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sinh, Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, was assigned to hold the position of Head of the Committee.

Mr. Nong Viet Yen - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lao Cai province is the Standing Deputy Head of the Department; Mr. Tran Son Binh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is the Deputy Head of the Department.

The 16 members of the Steering Committee are representatives of leaders of departments, branches and some localities in Lao Cai province.

In addition, the 4 members of the Steering Committee are representatives of agencies and socio-political organizations of Lao Cai province.

The Steering Committee has the function and task of assisting the Provincial People's Committee and the Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee in directing, urging, monitoring and guiding departments, branches, localities and establishments to implement goals, tasks and solutions to develop tourism in the province; developing detailed plans to organize and implement tourism development activities in the province to ensure innovation, creativity and efficiency associated with preserving national cultural identity, preserving historical and cultural relics, scenic spots...

At the same time, inspect and urge the development and implementation of specific plans and programs on tourism development in accordance with the goals and plans for socio-economic development of the province; synthesize and periodically report on the implementation of tourism development in the area.

The establishment of the Steering Committee for Tourism Development helps Lao Cai province promptly remove obstacles and difficulties and maximize local advantages. From there, build a suitable development strategy to improve the efficiency of tourism activities.

Lao Cai province currently has 2,138 accommodation facilities with about 20,600 rooms and 740 homestays. In the first 9 months of 2025, Lao Cai welcomed 8.7 million tourists, revenue reached VND35,973 billion
