Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Trinh Xuan Truong - Secretary of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee praised and congratulated the achievements and results that generations of cadres, civil servants, public employees, artists and artisans in the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector have achieved over the past 80 years.
The Lao Cai Provincial Party Secretary suggested that the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector needs to make great changes in the thinking, awareness and actions of Party committees at all levels, authorities, people and the business community about the position and role of culture.
Continue to fundamentally and comprehensively change the mindset of "doing culture" to "state management of culture", thinking and working methods of tourism; strongly pay attention to developing cultural industries suitable for the locality; each cultural officer must become a "digital citizen", capable of exploiting and applying technology in managing, preserving, creating, and disseminating cultural - artistic, sports and tourism values.
At the same time, focus on removing institutional and policy bottlenecks, creating a legal corridor, building specific and detailed planning and regulations; developing tourism - culture in a systematic and large-scale manner with the participation of the entire political system from the beginning.

To date, Lao Cai province has 4 intangible cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO, dozens of national heritages, hundreds of ranked historical and cultural relics; the cultural identity of more than 30 ethnic groups is preserved and spread.
The movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" is widely spread throughout the province with over 2,000 village, hamlet and residential group art troupes operating vigorously; the rate of people practicing sports regularly has increased over the years at over 40%. The activities of Lao Cai Provincial Museum continue to innovate with nearly 40,000 artifacts...

In particular, Lao Cai tourism has become a bright spot in the Northern mountainous region with over 10 million visitors, bringing in revenue from tourism services of over VND46,000 billion.
After the merger of Lao Cai and Yen Bai provinces, the new Lao Cai province has opened up many potential for tourism development, striving to become a leading "green" and "smart" natural tourism and adventure sports destination in Vietnam and the region by 2050, associated with the traditional cultural identity of ethnic minorities.
