Cau Bong Festival honors Tra Que tourist village in Hoi An

Hoi An - Cau Bong Festival is held on February 3 and 4 (January 6 and 7 of the lunar calendar) with many unique traditional rituals.

Cau Bong Festival in Hoi An is an activity to commemorate the God of Agriculture who built Tra Que vegetable village.

Tra Que Vegetable Village, Hoi An has just been honored to receive the "Best Tourist Village 2024" award from the United Nations Tourism Organization (UNWTO), affirming its efforts to preserve culture, beliefs, traditional crafts and develop sustainable community tourism.

This place is not only famous for its lush green vegetable beds but also a land rich in cultural values, where people still continue the customs and practices from thousands of years ago.

The highlight is the Cau Bong festival which takes place on the 7th day of the first lunar month every year. The festival is an opportunity for people to express their respect to heaven and earth, the gods, and the ancestors who opened up this land and pray for a new year of favorable weather and bountiful crops.

The village elders will perform spiritual rituals according to ancient customs, from erecting the Neu on the 24th of December (January 23), welcoming the gods, worshiping the God of Agriculture, writing the funeral oration, choosing the main worshiper...

All are carefully and solemnly prepared. Besides the solemn rituals, the festival also has many exciting folk cultural activities such as: Bai Choi game festival, Lion - Lion - Dragon performance, land digging and planting contest and culinary contest... creating a joyful atmosphere, connecting people and tourists.

In particular, within the framework of the festival, the locality will also organize promotional activities to introduce Tra Que Vegetable Village - Best Tourist Village in 2024, in order to promote the value and influence of the award, while motivating the community to continue to preserve and promote indigenous cultural values, improve livelihoods and improve living standards.

Cau Bong Festival is a testament to the spirit of respecting nature, showing gratitude to ancestors and the desire for a better life of the local people. With the harmonious combination of tradition and creativity, Tra Que Vegetable Village in particular and Cau Bong Festival in general have become an attractive destination, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists to visit and experience.
