In recent years, Phu Quoc has gradually transformed from a famous island with its pristine beauty into a large-scale resort and entertainment tourism center of Vietnam and the region. The rapid changes in infrastructure, services and the strong increase in international visitors have caused the pearl island to continuously appear on many international rankings and travel websites.
Recently, Khaosod of Thailand identified Phu Quoc as one of the fastest growing sea tourist destinations in Southeast Asia. Previously, at the end of 2025, travel website Travel Off Path (USA) also ranked the pearl island at the top of the list of destinations with the fastest tourism development in the region.

According to Khaosod, Phu Quoc's attraction comes from the combination of tropical nature and modern tourism systems. The island located in the Gulf of Thailand owns many famous beaches such as Bai Dai, Bai Sao with fine white sand, turquoise sea water and favorable climate almost year-round.
Not only prominent for its natural scenery, Phu Quoc also attracts tourists thanks to its high-class resort system, night markets, coastal restaurants and large-scale entertainment complexes. Projects such as Sunset Town or Grand World contribute to changing the face of the pearl island, creating vibrant tourist spaces with Mediterranean-style architecture and many nighttime entertainment activities.
One of the projects mentioned a lot by international tourists is Hon Thom cable car - a sea-crossing cable car connecting the South Island with nearby small islands. From above, visitors can admire the panoramic blue sea, fishing villages and typical ecosystems of the Southern sea area.

In addition, Travel Off Path believes that the visa exemption policy for international tourists is also a factor helping Phu Quoc Gia increase its competitiveness with many famous sea destinations in the region. Thanks to the increasingly expanding air network, the number of international visitors to the pearl island has continuously increased in recent times.
In early 2025, Aviation A2Z said that Phu Quoc airport recorded an increase in the number of seats by more than 185% - the highest increase in Southeast Asia. This shows the increasing demand for travel as well as the strong connectivity of this destination with the international market.
Despite rapid development, Phu Quoc still retains many local characteristics. Traditional fishing villages, fish sauce making, pepper gardens and marine culinary culture are still experiences loved by many tourists when coming to the pearl island.
The American travel website assesses that, with its natural advantages, tourism open-door policy and synchronous infrastructure investment, Phu Quoc is gradually affirming its position as the leading sea and island tourist center in Southeast Asia.
