On April 21, the People's Committee of Kon Plong district (Kon Tum province) said that the unit had just organized a meeting with households participating in tourism activities in a number of communal tourism villages and hamlets in the area.
The event aims to enhance connectivity, share experiences and promote sustainable tourism development.
In recent years, along with the development of Mang Den National Eco-tourism Area, Kon Plong district has synchronously implemented many solutions to build and improve the quality of community tourism.
To date, the locality has had two recognized community tourism destinations, including: Kon Pring Cultural Tourism Village and Vi Ro Ngheo Community Tourism Village.
The whole district currently has 40 homestay establishments operating in community tourism villages, an increase of 10 establishments compared to the same period in 2024. In addition, one facility is completing the registration documents and 14 other households are continuing to invest and upgrade facilities to soon put into operation.
From the beginning of 2025 to now, community tourism destinations in the area have welcomed about 39,300 visitors, an increase of 65% over the same period last year. Tourism activities not only contribute to creating livelihoods for people but also play an important role in promoting the socio-economic development of the district.
At the meeting, representatives of Mang Den Tourism Association, leaders of communes, towns and tourism households discussed operating models, shared experiences and proposed solutions to strengthen linkages and improve the effectiveness of community tourism development.
Notably, in April 2025, the People's Committee of Kon Tum province issued a decision approving the MD1 Sub- Zone Plan, belonging to Sub-Zone 1 of the Master Plan for the construction of Mang Den Tourist Area until 2045.
According to the plan, this area will develop in an ecological direction, respecting natural terrain and the existing ecosystem, limiting concretization, and at the same time creating an architectural highlight in the center of the area.
It is expected that by 2045, the area will have a population of about 94,200 people, welcoming about 5 million tourists each year. In particular, a modern metro line will be built to connect Mang Den airport with key tourist destinations such as Po E, Mang Canh, Dak Tang and Mang But.
