After 3 years of operation, the Ho Guom Theater has organized hundreds of Vietnamese and international art programs, and has also become a venue for many important political, cultural and foreign affairs events. The two 900 and 500-seat auditoriums are the center of symphony, opera, ballet, chamber music, traditional art and international programs.
With its location in the center of the Capital, Ho Guom Opera House can become a stopover in visitors' journey to explore Hanoi. Besides Hoan Kiem Lake, the Old Quarter, museums or relics, an art program can add more experiences about the city's cultural life.
Performing arts are identified as the center of a cultural ecosystem at the Theater, connected to art education, exchange, experience and community. Activities introducing works, meeting artists, masterclasses, seminars help the public understand more about authors, composers, music history and the context of the birth of classical works.
The Theater also develops the Music Museum, creating more art approaches outside the auditorium. The public can learn about the work, chat with artists or access behind-the-scenes stories, instead of just going to see a program and leaving.
Experiential space is also part of this development direction. Recently, the 6th floor of Ho Guom Theater opened the AY-VY Hanoi restaurant, adding a stopover for audiences and tourists.
This area has a capacity of 420 people, 120-seat VIP rooms and an outdoor area of about 100 people, serving many groups of guests from audiences watching performances, tourists, family, friends to businesses and foreign affairs activities.
Besides cuisine, the 6th floor is oriented to become an art space with close-knit programs such as chamber orchestra, piano, violin, cello and jazz. Vietnamese music is also introduced through folk songs and traditional instruments.
Here, the public can learn about works, musical instruments, artists and behind-the-scenes stories through conversations, performances and direct experiences.These activities help shorten the distance between artists and audiences, while creating more opportunities for tourists to access Vietnamese music.
This development is in line with the trend of cultural tourism, when experiences at destinations are increasingly expanded from sightseeing to learning and interacting.
Previously, the appeal of Ho Guom Opera House was also recognized in international charts. In 2023, the website 10Best of World Travel Awards included Ho Guom Opera House in the list of 10 most wonderful opera houses in the world, along with names such as Metropolitan Opera (USA), Wiener Staatsoper and Sydney Opera House. Ho Guom Opera House is the only representative of Vietnam in this list.
In the context of Hanoi promoting the development of cultural industry, building a creative city and night economy, Ho Guom Theater is gradually adding an art rendezvous point to the journey to explore the Capital.
