In which, the number of East Asian tourists to Japan increased mainly from the Korean and Taiwan (China) markets. The markets in Southeast Asia recorded the highest growth rates in Vietnam and Malaysia. While the Americas and Europe region recorded strong growth momentum from the US and UK markets.
The number of tourists from China in March decreased by 55.9% compared to the same period last year, down to 291,600 people.
On the other hand, the number of tourists from the Middle East decreased by 30.6% to 16,700 people. The reason is partly due to flight cancellations and reduced by the tense war situation in this region.
In 2025, Vietnam is Japan's 11th largest visitor market. Vietnamese tourists to Japan reached about 678,500, an increase of 9.2% compared to 2024, the highest level since the data was recorded.
Vietnamese tourists come to Japan mainly during peak seasons such as the cherry blossom season (March-April) and the red leaf season (November-October). In the summer (May-June) and winter (November, December, January), the number of visitors is not large. This is also the low tourist season in Japan.
