On June 25, the Management Board of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park said that it had just coordinated with the Jungle Boss Company's expedition team to survey and discover a new cave with many outstanding values.
Previously, immediately after receiving information from a local resident about the discovery of a new cave, the expedition team conducted a survey. The program lasted 6 days and was assessed as one of the notable cave discoveries at Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park as well as Quang Tri province.
The new cave is named Thang Cave (Victory Cave), after the name of the local people who discovered the cave location. The cave is located on the road between Voi Cave and Ma Da Lake, belonging to Ma Da valley in the strictly protected sub-zone of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.
Survey results show that Thang Cave is about 3,000m long, an average width of 70m, and many sections are more than 100m wide. The cave has two entrances and is divided into two separate branches. The entrance is about 5m2 wide, while the exit is narrow, just enough for an adult to weave through.
To approach the cave, the expedition team had to rappel down to a depth of about 20m. As soon as they touched the bottom, a space likened to a " stalactite palace" appeared with an architectural mark lasting hundreds of thousands of years.
Almost the entire length of 3,000m of the cave is covered by a large-scale stalactite system. Many stalactite columns up to 50m high, along with massive stone curtains, bamboo and a series of unique stalactite shapes appear densely in the cave.
In particular, the survey team also recorded the appearance of a large number of impressively large gemstone clusters.
