On December 18, Phu Quoc City (Kien Giang) welcomed the Italian ship AIDA Stella. Very early in the morning, many drivers gathered at Duong Dong port to welcome passengers. Phu Quoc City People's Committee also organized an art program to welcome tourists.
According to Phu Quoc City leaders, about 90% of the tourists on board are German nationals, the rest are Chinese. The cruise ship docked offshore, and tourists were escorted by small boats to the port to complete immigration procedures. This is the last international cruise to the Pearl Island in 2024.
Tourists go ashore to visit the scenic spots and entertainment areas in the South and North of the island. Island tours and coral viewing tours also attract a large number of tourists to have fun and shop. In addition, Phu Quoc cuisine is also a priority choice for cruise tourists. A few tourists on the ship use bicycles to tour around the pearl island. It is expected that at around 6:00 p.m., tourists will board the ship to Cambodia.
According to the leader of Duong Dong Port Border Guard Station, it is expected that from February 14-23, 2025, Phu Quoc will continue to welcome 4 international tourist ships for sightseeing and vacation, of which one ship will stay overnight.
According to the Kien Giang Department of Tourism, in 2024, Phu Quoc City is expected to welcome more than 5.9 million visitors, of which international visitors are expected to welcome more than 962,000 (an increase of 73.4% over the same period, exceeding the annual plan by 44.4%), with total revenue reaching more than VND 21,000 billion. It is expected that in 2025, Phu Quoc will welcome about 7 million visitors, of which 1 million international visitors will be welcomed.
