Thanh Hai water puppetry has a history of more than 300 years, passed down by the people of An Liet village through many generations. After the historical ups and downs, in 1999, a group of local artisans together restored the puppetry ward.
Initially, there were only 20 participants, but now the team has grown to 29 members, is active and performs regularly to serve tourists.
The People's Committee of Hai Duong province has just issued a decision to recognize Thanh Hai Water puppetry Ward, Thanh Ha district as a tourist destination. This is a worthy recognition for the efforts to preserve and promote a unique traditional art form with a history of more than 300 years in the locality.
According to the decision, Thanh Ha District People's Committee is responsible for effectively managing and exploiting the Water puppetry Ward tourist attraction, while ensuring environmental sanitation, security, order and social safety. The district also needs to create favorable conditions for tourists to visit, organize reasonable traffic for means of transportation, ensure a safe and attractive experience for visitors.
Thanh Ha District People's Committee is assigned to develop explanatory content, promotional publications, and introductions about tourist attractions to spread traditional cultural values, contributing to attracting tourists inside and outside the province.
The recognition of Thanh Hai Commune Water puppetry Ward as a tourist destination not only contributes to preserving valuable intangible cultural heritage but also opens up opportunities for community tourism development, promoting the local socio-economy. This is an important highlight in the journey to build a typical tourism brand of Thanh Ha district.
