More than 400 free car parking spaces have just been arranged in Hong Gai ward - the central ward of the old Ha Long city located on the shore of Ha Long Bay.
In which, many points that previously charged fees are now switched to free service to create convenience for people and tourists.
According to the People's Committee of Hong Gai ward, after reviewing the land fund and reorganizing traffic, the locality has put into use 7 free parking spots with a total capacity of about 400 cars. Parking lots are concentrated in the central area - a place with high tourism, trade and service density of the city.
Parking points are arranged in the area opposite Vincom Plaza Ha Long, Ha Long Flower Park section, behind Tran Hung Dao Elementary School, Ha Long I market area (near Digital Transformation Center), land and road adjacent to Yet Kieu 2 Cultural House next to Ha Long II market, Bach Dang Theater yard - Cay Thap street and Le Quy Don street near Clock Store No. 1.
At these points, the government has drawn lines to divide parking lots, installed "P - No toll" signs so that vehicle drivers can easily recognize and use the correct location, contributing to limiting the situation of rampant parking and stopping on roads and sidewalks.
Notably, many parking lots previously charged fees such as the area opposite Vincom Plaza Ha Long, the section of Ha Long Flower Park, Bach Dang Theater yard and behind Tran Hung Dao Elementary School have been converted to serve for free.
Hong Gai ward is a locality with many tourism and service activities in Quang Ninh province.
This area has Ha Long I market - a famous seafood market, commercial centers, coastal parks, relics, scenic spots and many experiential services on Ha Long Bay such as three-wall sailboats, attracting a large number of tourists every day.
Parking demand, especially on weekends and peak tourist seasons, is always high.
According to local authorities, taking advantage of land funds to supplement static traffic infrastructure not only increases hundreds of parking positions but also contributes to reducing the situation of vehicles encroaching on roads and sidewalks, improving urban order and creating favorable conditions for tourists' sightseeing and shopping activities.
In the coming time, the ward will continue to review the land fund, study opening more free parking spots on 25/4 street, Tran Thai Tong street and some high-demand routes, ensuring traffic safety and urban aesthetic requirements.
