On April 30, Dong Son Commune People's Committee said that the locality has just established a Community Group to protect aquatic resources, seaweed and develop community tourism.
The group has about 100 members, all local people participating on a voluntary basis.

Accordingly, members will take on the task of patrolling and supervising the assigned area; protecting seaweed resources and coastal ecosystems. In parallel with conservation work, the team also participates in exploiting and developing community tourism services such as sightseeing, diving to see seaweed, dining services, accommodation and experiencing cultural and historical relics in the area.
Dong Son is assessed as a locality possessing rich natural resources and a unique marine environment. The beaches here converge many valuable aquatic resources, notably seaweed, a seaweed species with high economic value. Currently, the total area of seaweed is estimated at 189ha, distributed in three main areas including Chau Thuan Bien, Phu Quy and An Hai.
Linking protection with reasonable exploitation of seaweed resources not only contributes to preserving marine ecosystems and limiting coastal erosion, but also opens up sustainable livelihoods for people. Through the Community Group model, awareness of marine environmental protection is raised, while strengthening cohesion and cooperation in community tourism development in the locality.
